RTMS
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is a safe and noninvasive procedure that stimulates the nerve cells in the brain by using magnetic fields.
During an rTMS session, a halo is gently placed on the head. Eight coils are placed strategically in place. The rTMS Halo sends painless magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in each region of the brain where the coils are placed. This generates proper chemical balance, which in turn results in the production of healthy amounts of “feel-good” chemical messengers like serotonin and dopamine. Balancing the levels of these chemical messengers can result in relief of even chronic symptoms we see in depression and other disorders.
A total of 289 studies on rTMS were published between 1990 and 2008, testing rTMS as a treatment tool for various neurological disorders including migraines, strokes, Parkinson’s, dystonia, tinnitus (Mayo Clinic).
A session lasts 20 to 30 minutes.
